Not to many are taught that they can in fact “live” the life that is standard issue. What do I mean by that, well my loves everyone here in time on earth has one “Standard Issue”. The beautiful thing…
What would we do without stigma to guide us?
I can hear them gearing up the PR engines now. “Did you hear about the woman in Louisiana?” “There you are, smoking something they say is safe, and the next thing you know, you’re dead on your sofa.” “There ought to be a law.” Well, there’s more than one already.
Before we go back to Reefer Madness 2.0, can we take a minute to look at some science? Very few things are by themselves causal. Causes interact. Life and nature, are complicated. We try to make it simple so we can understand it, but that doesn’t make it simple. It just makes us simple.
In medicine we should know that. What other factors could there be? What technology did he use to look for toxins? Was it just mass spec confirmation of urine toxicology? Or was ToF mass spec used for discovery? There’s a lot we could miss with the former. Do we know the genetics of her p450 enzymes and did they correlate with the various metabolites of THC and CBD that he saw in the woman’s blood? Or did a non-correlation suggest that something else was present affecting their function? What viruses were tested for? Was there any history of cardiac dysrhythmia? Had she ever in her life complained of palpitations?
So many questions we could ask before assuming that someone died of a THC blood level a tenth of that of the median impaired Australian driver. There’s way too little here to start writing the screenplay for “Sofa Madness,” and I wish the coroner had done a bit more work before starting it.
