Growing Up With a Prettier Sister

My older sister is my best friend. That may sound extremely friendless, but it is not. We always did every sport together. There was no similarity in our personality or our talents. In figure skating, she was the tall, beautiful ice princess everyone envisioned, and I was nothing like that. The dramatic difference in our lives was how I was a complete tomboy, and she was a total girly girl.

Since our lives were different, people reacted to us differently. Everyone always approached my sister, telling her she should be a model, and she is the prettiest little girl! Meanwhile, I would stand right next to her, listening to all the compliments she would receive based on her physical appearance, waiting for them to even acknowledge my presence, but it did not happen.

The older I got, the less I cared about the overwhelming compliments my sister consumed from adults, now it all about the guys. Many guys compare my boxy body with her curves and figures. Boys I like are into her. It is just a hot mess.

Now you may have noticed, at the beginning of this article I mentioned that my sister is my best friend, and it is true. Our relationship was not affected by her beauty. She is always so generous to me. We love each other!

So, it is unfair to compare us to each other because it would be like comparing an apple and a banana. No matter how girly my sister is or how tomboy I am, we are still sweet human-being with a big personality. That is all that matters!
