Why I Use Buffer For Social Media Scheduling

I first came across the social media schedule tool, Buffer, a few years ago right when I was moving back to the San Francisco Bay Area. I had a bit of a need to move back, but also was headed toward a professional change. I became a Realtor and joined the family business. I had a goal of building our online presence from the ground up.

I quickly realized that this was going to be a lot harder than expected. As soon as I was licensed, my time was being sucked dry with prospecting, open houses and inspections. How on earth was I going to get content going on our website and manage our social channels?

I remember looking at social media and productivity apps for my BlackBerry phone. I saw one called “Buffer.” I think it was the Android app ported onto the BlackBerry 10 platform, but my memory might be a bit fuzzy. (Maybe I just sideloaded it myself).

Around the same time I came across Buffer in the Twitterverse. I was hooked on following the team, and reading their blog. Their dedication to transparency, and a genuine desire to help others really stood out to me. I signed up to start scheduling my team’s social media posts out ahead of time. And to put it simply, it was hugely convenient and it filled a need for us. For Realtors, it is challenging to find the time for social media while in the moment. We spend a lot of time in our cars driving from home to home, to inspections, to the office, in the evenings to client homes to sign documents… And in those meetings, and at those inspections are attention is needed at the task at hand.

Buffer enabled me to spend a few minutes here and there to schedule out sharing our own content, as well as content from others that would be valuable to our followers. Being a part of a team, I would get content scheduled while in the passenger seat en route to the next appointment. It was a relief to have one less *thing* to think about.

It is a common thread in the real estate arena with social media falling by the wayside. It is easy for those in the industry to start hot, and then the effort just stops. It is hard to start any habit!

The product performs a functional need, and makes my life more convenient in doing so. That alone makes it one of my favorite tools to use in our marketing efforts.

I have to also emphasize Buffer’s dedication to their values. Maybe it is just the warm and fuzzies, but that dedication makes me all the happier to be a customer. Perhaps it could be peace of mind in knowing their values are what is behind the product I am using. Their default to transparency is astounding, and something that is still so rare in tech companies. And every interaction I have had with a team member, they exude their value of showing gratitude to a degree I don’t see anywhere else.

Yeah… I would say a lot of warm fuzzy feelings!

Overall, Buffer is an amazing tool for the real estate community. It is a tool that is simple to use, and streamlines our marketing efforts. If you are a Realtor that is just getting started, or have been in the business a long time I would recommend taking a look. They have an awesome plan where you can connect multiple accounts (even Instagram!), and you can schedule out your content sharing.
