My Thoughts on Program Management

[2018.09.24] I’ve read somewhere a while back (when I was preparing for my PM interviews) that “Program Management” is a misnomer because neither do we program nor manage. Little did I know that it meant that we don’t have the time to program and that instead of managing things / people we’re constantly fighting to convince the developers to engineer something for us.

[2018.09.24] We’re Jack of all trades, master of none. We learn a breadth of it all, and we pretend that we know the depths of them all.

[2018.10.08] What value do PMs bring to the team?

PMs are the customer experts and they are the voice of customers. PMs use telemetry through many means (from customer surveys and interviews to extrapolating logged data) to drive requirements and priorities for the team.
