Law Intern

Spent the last week reviewing reams of contracts and witnessing ruthless contract negotiations first-hand. And then attempted discussing life in general with a lawyer friend over dinner just so I can belt out philosophical jazz.

Here is how the conversation ended:

Friend: Ok, got that. But what according to you is a successful marriage?

Me: Well, since marriage is a socially and emotionally recognized union between wife and husband that establishes rights and obligations between them and if I, as a husband, having to exercise my rights as one of the spouses, can successfully refute my wife’s arguments or allegations either through logical reasoning or absurdity without resorting to flattery, appeasement, threatening, blackmailing or exaggeration of any kind, or usage of gifts and flowers, or unconditionally and irrevocably agreeing with everything she says even if such ideas or proposals cause physical harm or metal trauma, say to the plaintiff or parties involved, *gesturing vigorously* either during the acts of argument or later as a consequence of such arguments; where these arguments or allegations include but are not limited to…

Friend: No further questions, lordship. I’m the lawyer here. Now, shut-up and eat your food.

Me: *brings the arms down slowly reaching for cutlery*
